What are Chemical Peels
A peel regenerates the skin, often making it smoother with fewer wrinkles. Mainly for facial skin the procedure is sometimes used on other parts of the body including chest, neck and hands. Traditional chemical peels typically consist of chemical solutions applied to the skin to form flakes or blisters that eventually peel off. This painful old technology which is no longer used destroys healthy tissue forcing the body to heal itself. New Generation Peels use Non- traumatic resurfacing to stimulate a healthy change in the skin.
Better ingredients, less downtime, and fewer unfavorable side effects such as prolonged redness than other chemical peels, making them safe enough to be repeated bi-monthly. The use of AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) & BHA’s (Beta Hydroxy Acid) are used to exfoliate the skin by removing dead cells in order to promote new cell growth and can be used without any preparation. Peels designed to correct damage done in the past are stronger treatments that use high percentages of Retinol and AHA’s that go deeper and make the skin look tighter and smoother. For this the skin needs 10-30 days’ advance preparation prior to application. Peels are often used to help treat conditions such as Acne, Acne Scarring, Aging, Wrinkles, Sun Spots, Blotchy Pigmentation, Skin Discoloration, Blackheads, Whiteheads and Excessive Oiliness.
